Summary
The customer in Remuera, Auckland, needed a hand-dug trench for a solar cable from the garage to the house. The brief specified an approximately 8 metre trench, 600mm deep and 100–150mm wide, with no backfill required after the cable was installed. The garden is mostly clay soil, and the customer had already spent three hours digging to about 350–400mm in places, with roughly 2m at the full 600mm depth. Upon assignment, the remaining sections were completed by hand using a pickaxe and trench shovel, keeping excavated soil stacked about 5m away as requested. The compact clay required careful digging around pavers and plants, and the final 5 metres were finished in about 2–3 hours to meet the specified depth and width. No backfill was performed per the agreed outcome. The task attracted seven offers, and the selected offer was $200. The poster gave a positive 5-star review: "Awesome job. Thanks".

We are putting solar on a garage roof and need a trench dug for the cable to the house. The trench will need to be hand dug through a garden. The soil is mostly clay based. I have spent 3 hrs on it today and it is now about 2/3 or 3/4 done. 2m of trench is already deep enough. I estimate 2-3 hrs of work left. Needs to be done tomorrow. Pik axe, trench shovel and cart to put the dirt 5m away is provided
